Up-and-coming Pakistan batsman Abdul Samad believes he wasn’t “given enough opportunities” to show how good he is.
Samad noted he has been playing competitive cricket for over 10 overs and deserved more chances than he has gotten to this day.
Recently, the 26-year-old represented the Markhors in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that took place in Faisalabad.
In the six matches he played, the Faisalabad native scored 145 runs, which included a top score of 62, at an average of 24.16.
Samad generally batted in the middle order in the tournament, but noted that he doesn’t care where he bats, as long as he keeps getting the opportunities to showcase his talent.
“The batting position doesn’t matter to me. I am available to play at any position. I have been playing since 2012, I came through a proper pathway but I wasn’t given enough opportunities,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently faced Bangladesh in a two-Test series and were whitewashed 2-0.
They are now taking on England in a three-match Test series, which started on October 7 in Multan.
