Pakistan big-hitting batsman Abdul Samad said former captain Misbah-ul-Haq “was aware of my talent”.
Samad has started gaining an increasing amount of attention, especially after a couple of strong performances in the recent Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over tournament held in Faisalabad.
In that tournament, the 26-year-old represented the Markhors and amassed 145 runs in six games, which included a top score of 62, at an average of 24.16.
“I made my first-class debut under Misbah Bhai and he was aware of my talent,” Samad, who is from Faisalabad, was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently took on Bangladesh in a two-Test series and were beaten 2-0.
They are now involved in a three-match Test series against England, which began on October 7 in Multan.
