Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali has revealed that he gets criticised whenever he talks about veteran spinner Yasir Shah.
Yasir used to be Pakistan’s go-to spinner in Test cricket and did an outstanding job for a number of years.
However, after a few underwhelming performances, he lost his place in the side and has been overlooked since July 2022.
Pakistan have tried out a number of spinners in the past couple of years and right now, it seems that mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed has become their number one choice in the longest format.
It should be noted that Yasir is still playing domestic cricket and is currently participating in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament.
In two games for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited, the 38-year-old from Swabi has taken one wicket at an average of 147.
“People criticise me when I speak about Yasir Shah,” Basit said on his YouTube channel as quoted by NDTV.
The Pakistan team recently faced Bangladesh in a two-Test series and were surprisingly whitewashed 2-0.
They are now involved in a three-match Test series against England, which started on October 7 in Multan.
