Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has heaped praise on left-arm seamer Mir Hamza, saying he “covered the workload of an extra fast bowler” in the second Test against Bangladesh.
Hamza was brought into the playing XI, while the go-to pace duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah were rested.
The 32-year-old from Karachi took three wickets in the match at an average of 32.
Even though Pakistan lost the game, Masood appreciated the effort Hamza put in as he caused plenty of problems for the Bangladesh batsmen.
“Mir Hamza bowled tirelessly and covered the workload of an extra fast bowler,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Pakistan ended up losing 2-0 to Bangladesh and will look to bounce back when they take on England in a three-match Test series from October 7 to 28.
After the Bangladesh series, Masood and Hamza took part in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition held in Faisalabad.
Masood amassed 102 runs in four games for the Stallions at an average of 25.50, while Hamza claimed six wickets in four matches for the Dolphins at an average of 30.50.
