Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed believes great things are in store for 18-year-old Awais Ali, who he described as “a promising fast bowler”.

Awais was part of Pakistan’s Under-19 team and regularly took wickets while playing for them.

The Sialkot native was also part of the Central Punjab 2nd XI, but went wicketless in his last four games.

Interestingly, he has not played any competitive cricket since December 2022.

Nonetheless, Sarfaraz still feels Awais has a bright future ahead of him.

“Awais Ali is someone who is a promising fast bowler,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Sarfaraz was recently part of Pakistan’s team for the two-Test series against Bangladesh, but didn’t feature in either game as the men in green suffered a shock 2-0 loss.

He is now a player-mentor for the Dolphins in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over tournament going on in Faisalabad.

So far, he has played in one match and scored five runs.

The Pakistan team will be back in action next month when they take on England in a three-Test series from October 7 to 28 in Multan and Rawalpindi.
