Former spinner Danish Kaneria wants to see Pakistan stick with their captain for a year instead of constantly chopping and changing.

This comes after Babar Azam resigned as skipper in all three formats in November 2023, with Shaheen Shah Afridi succeeding him as T20I captain.

However, Afridi’s tenure lasted just one series as Azam was back in charge in ODIs and T20Is by March 2024.

Right now, there has been rising speculation that Azam and Test captain Shan Masood could both be removed from their leadership roles due to the team’s poor results.

Kaneria admitted it is both tiring and frustrating to see all the changes going on in Pakistan cricket and called for some consistency when it comes to the captaincy.

“Stick to your captain and give him full support for a year. If he doesn’t perform, then make changes,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Pakistan recently played a two-Test series against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, but ended up losing 2-0.

Many of the national players are now taking part in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over competition being held in Faisalabad.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-Test series against England, which is scheduled to take place from October 7 to 28 in Multan and Rawalpindi.

Pakistan Squad for Bangladesh Test Series: Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Hurraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), Shaheen Shah Afridi
