Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has shared a bold prediction for star batsman Babar Azam, saying he will “score five centuries in the coming five months”.
His comments came ahead of the two-match Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Azam has not scored a century in international cricket since August 2023, while his last Test hundred came in December 2022.
Despite the 29-year-old not being able to reach triple figures for a long time, Basit insisted he is confident the Lahore-born batsman will score plenty of centuries in quick time.
“Babar Azam will score five centuries in the coming five months,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.
Azam recently played in the two-Test series against Bangladesh and failed to have much of an impact as he mustered 64 runs at an average of 16.
Currently, he is representing the Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over tournament being held in Faisalabad.
In the four games he has played, he has amassed 230 runs, which includes a century and a fifty, at an average of 76.66.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-Test series against England, which will take place from October 7 to 28 in Multan and Rawalpindi.
