Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed sees plenty of potential in 17-year-old prospects Tayyab Arif and Muhammad Riazullah as he called them “brilliant talents”.
Both players primarily play as batsmen in the Pakistan Under-19 team, but Arif has also been utilised as a bowler in his last couple of matches.
Having seen what Arif and Riazullah are capable of doing, Sarfaraz has backed them to have long and successful careers.
“If we talk about Under-19 players, we have Tayyab Arif and Riazullah who are brilliant talents,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Sarfaraz was picked for Pakistan’s recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, but didn’t make the playing XI for both matches as the men in green succumbed to a 2-0 defeat.
The 37-year-old is now a player-mentor for the Dolphins in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over competition being played in Faisalabad.
In the one game he has featured in, Sarfaraz scored five runs.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match Test series against England, which is set to take place from October 7 to 28.
