Bangladesh left-arm pace bowler Shoriful Islam wanted to get Babar Azam as many times as possible in the recent two-match Test series as the Pakistan batsman was his “dream wicket”.
Shoriful knew that the 29-year-old would be one of the biggest threats to the Bangladesh team as he has a habit of scoring big runs.
Ultimately, the 23-year-old dismissed Azam once in the first innings of the first Test in Rawalpindi.
“Babar is a tough challenge for Bangladesh. So, we have to take his wicket quickly. He is also my dream wicket. I will be very happy if I can get his wicket,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Shoriful, who only featured in the first Test, finished the two-match series with three wickets at an average of 32.33.
As for Azam, he scored 64 runs at an average of 16 as Pakistan went on to be whitewashed 2-0.
Next up for the men in green will be a three-match Test series against England, which will be played from October 7 to 28.
