Pakistan fast bowler Khurram Shahzad is thankful that red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie backed him and offered a lot of motivation.

Shahzad has become one of the rising stars of Pakistan cricket as he has been taking plenty of wickets as of late.

In the recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, he was Pakistan’s highest wicket-taker with nine victims at an average of 24.44.

Having started to taste success at the international level, the 24-year-old from Mandi Bahauddin credited former Australia speedster Gillespie for helping him stay positive.

“Credit goes to Jason Gillespie for motivating me. He has kept me positive and backed me,” Shahzad was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Despite Shahzad’s outstanding performance with the ball, Pakistan ended up losing 2-0 to Bangladesh.

The men in green will now take on England in a three-match Test series, which will be played from October 7 to 28.
