Mohammad Asif: “When we used to play, we had 90 mph pacers in every house in Pakistan. I don’t know what has happened now”

Former Pakistan seamer Mohammad Asif has recalled how the country used to have “90 mph pacers in every house”.
His comments come after questions have been raised about why many of the current Pakistan fast bowlers are bowling much slower than they used to.
Asif admitted he doesn’t know “what has happened” and also criticised the present-day pace attack for “smiling after getting hit for a boundary”.
“When we used to play, we had 90 mph pacers in every house in Pakistan. I don’t know what has happened now! Our bowlers are smiling after getting hit for a boundary. How did you allow the batter to hit you? How can you smile then?” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently took on Bangladesh in a two-Test series and lost 2-0 despite playing both matches on home soil in Rawalpindi.
Next up for the men in green will be a three-match Test series against England, which will be held from October 7 to 28.
