Former Pakistan speedster Tanvir Ahmed believes Babar Azam should be dropped from the Test team if he fails to perform in the upcoming three-Test series against England.

Azam has not been able to score a Test century since December 2022, while his most recent performance against Bangladesh was subpar at best.

In the two Tests that were played, the 29-year-old only managed to muster 64 runs at an average of 16.

With Pakistan losing 2-0 to Bangladesh and having a tough series against England on the horizon, Tanvir stressed how important it is for Azam to make big runs.

If he fails to, Tanvir thinks the Lahore-born batter needs to be axed from the side until he regains his form.

“I personally feel that now the player with the attitude problem might be dropped from the team. The thing that has happened to Shaheen should also happen to everybody, including Babar Azam. If Babar does not perform well against Bangladesh and England in the forthcoming series, he should be dropped from the team then. All the big players should be dropped and replaced by the youngsters if they do not perform well,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Samaa TV.

The three-Test series between Pakistan and England is scheduled to be played from October 7 to 28.
