Pakistan assistant coach Azhar Mahmood said it is essential for Aamer Jamal to get fit as he is a “great all-rounder”.

Jamal showed how devastating he can be with the bat and ball during his debut Test series against Australia from December 2023 to January 2024.

In those three Tests, the 28-year-old troubled the Baggy Greens with his outstanding bowling, taking 18 wickets at an average of 20.44.

He also made his presence felt with the bat, amassing 143 runs, which included a career-best score of 82, at an average of 28.60.

Considering how big of an asset the Mianwali native could be, Mahmood urged him to work hard on recovering from the back injury he is currently suffering from.

“Pakistan get a great all-rounder in Aamer Jamal. It is key for the team to get fit,” he was quoted as saying by Samaa TV.

Jamal was part of Pakistan’s squad for the recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, but didn’t play in both matches due to his back injury.

The men in green lost the series 2-0 and will now take on England in a three-match Test series, which is scheduled to be held from October 7 to 28.
