Ahmed Shehzad: “What about Abdullah Shafique’s performance in the last 8 Test matches?”

Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has put opener Abdullah Shafique in his crosshairs, saying his performance in his last eight Test matches hasn’t been great.
Aside from a career-best 201 against Sri Lanka in July 2023, Shafique has only crossed the 50-run mark once more, which came when he made 62 against Australia in December 2023.
Since the 24-year-old’s red-hot start to Test cricket is starting to cool down, Shehzad noted that questions must start being asked about what has gone wrong.
“What about Abdullah Shafique’s performance in the last 8 Test matches?” he said in a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Shafique, who hails from Sialkot, was recently involved in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh and scored 42 runs at a dismal average of 10.50.
The men in green failed to impress throughout the series and ended up being beaten 2-0.
Next up for Pakistan will be a three-match Test series against England from October 7 to 28.
