Pakistan Test vice-captain Saud Shakeel has admitted that some players in the national team know their fitness levels have fallen.
He pointed out that those particular cricketers have not tried to deny it and will work hard to ensure their fitness is up to the required standards.
The men in green have come under fire for their poor results as of late, with some former players pointing out that the players are not as agile as those from other countries.
“To be honest, the fitness levels of some of our players went down in the last couple of months, and they accepted it too,” Shakeel was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Shakeel didn’t play in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where Pakistan failed to make it out of the group stage.
He did feature in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh and accumulated 159 runs, which included a top score of 141, at an average of 39.75.
Despite his solid performance with the bat, Pakistan ended up losing the series 2-0.
