Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has asked on what basis does big-hitter Mohammad Haris deserve to be selected in the national team.
Haris is seen as a potential superstar, but has failed to live up to expectations as he hasn’t been able to score runs consistently at the international level.
So far, the 23-year-old from Peshawar has made 30 runs in six ODIs at an average of 7.50.
He has also played nine T20Is and amassed 126 runs at an average of 14.
Based on his poor performances, Shehzad questioned why everyone is asking where Haris is and why he is not playing for Pakistan.
“I am seeing everywhere that people are saying that Mohammad Haris is not in the Pakistan squad. On what basis will his name come into that list? What is his performance that merits that selection?” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
Haris was not picked for the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh, where Pakistan find themselves trailing 1-0 after losing the first Test by 10 wickets.
They will be looking to bounce back and level the series in the ongoing second Test, which began on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
