Former Pakistan chief selector Mohammad Wasim has admitted it was a pain to make limited overs captain Babar Azam accept changes.

He noted that Azam was very stubborn and sometimes, he had to “overstep my boundaries” just to get him on board with certain decisions.

Wasim’s comments come at a time when the 29-year-old’s future as white-ball captain remains unclear. It is possible Azam could be asked to step down since the men in green failed to impress at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they were eliminated in the group stage.

“I had to overstep my boundaries sometimes as chief selector just to push him into a change,” he said on Samaa TV as quoted by PakPassion.

Azam is currently playing in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh and made scores of 0 and 22 in the first Test, which Pakistan lost by 10 wickets.

He will be looking for a big score in the ongoing second Test, which got underway on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
