Pakistan batsman Umar Amin believes he is among the top three performers in white-ball and red-ball cricket in the country.

He noted that he has consistently done well in domestic cricket and even rated himself as the nation’s best red-ball cricketer when looking at what he has done and accomplished.

Amin, who hails from Rawalpindi, has not represented Pakistan since January 2018, but has been making a strong case for a recall, especially after his breathtaking 177 for Pakistan A in their four-day game against Bangladesh A in Islamabad.

Having shown what he can do, the 34-year-old is hoping it is enough to convince the national selectors to give him another chance to play for his country.

“Well, since I was dropped from the team, I’ve been playing all three formats. I try to give my best performance in all of them. If you look at my performances in the recent past, whether in red-ball or white-ball cricket, I’m definitely among the top three cricketers, especially in red-ball cricket, I think I would be number one if you consider the performances of the last five or six years,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Amin was not part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the men in green failed to make it out of the group stage.

He also wasn’t picked for the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh, in which Pakistan find themselves trailing 1-0 after losing the first Test by 10 wickets.

The second Test got underway on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
