Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad believes that if the national team don’t follow through with their promise to play a more aggressive brand of cricket, then even promoting power-hitter Iftikhar Ahmed to number three in T20Is won’t help.

Shehzad pointed out that the men in green have to start taking action when they say something, or nothing will change.

The 32-year-old added that the responsibility lies with limited overs captain Babar Azam to lead by example after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed an eagerness for the team to be more attacking.

“If this continues, even putting Iftikhar in the one down position won’t help you,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

Shehzad wasn’t part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the men in green were eliminated in the group stage.

He also wasn’t selected for the ongoing two-Test series against Bangladesh, in which Pakistan find themselves trailing 1-0 after losing the first Test by 10 wickets.

The second Test match will start on August 30 in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan Squad for Bangladesh Test Series: Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Kamran Ghulam, Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Hurraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), Shaheen Shah Afridi
