Pakistan mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed: “My goal is to become the team’s main spinner and I’ll strive to achieve it through hard work”

Abrar Ahmed has unveiled his goal of becoming Pakistan’s “main spinner”, but is under no illusion of how difficult it will be to accomplish.
The 25-year-old has become the country’s first-choice spinner in Test cricket, but hasn’t yet achieved the same status in the limited overs formats.
Many former and current players have praised the Karachi native for his bowling and believe he can be a major asset for the men in green since he is a mystery spinner.
That said, Abrar insisted that he will have to work hard if he wants to keep performing at the highest level and achieve his dream of becoming Pakistan’s go-to spinner.
“My goal is to become the team’s main spinner and I’ll strive to achieve it through hard work,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Abrar was part of Pakistan’s team for the recent 2024 T20 World Cup, but didn’t feature in any matches as the men in green saw their campaign come to an end in the group stage.
He is now involved in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, but wasn’t included in the playing XI for the first Test, which Pakistan lost by 10 wickets.
The second Test will start on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
