Shan Masood: “Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, and even Aamer Jamal to an extent — when they step in, whether Shaheen or Naseem Shah or another isn’t available, they all offer something that can win Pakistan games and pick those 20 crucial wickets”

Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood believes the pace quartet of Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali and Aamer Jamal are all capable of winning games for the national team.

He noted that he will utilise their services in Test cricket when the men in green decide to rest key fast bowlers like Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah.

All four bowlers have shown plenty of promise and could see more playing time when Pakistan opt to go with a larger pace attack for matches.

“We’re equally confident that the ones who step in—the new guys like Khurram Shahzad, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, and even Aamer Jamal to an extent — when they step in, whether Shaheen or Naseem Shah or another isn’t available, they all offer something that can win Pakistan games and pick those 20 crucial wickets,” Masood said on the PCB Podcast.

Pakistan recently featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they failed to make it out of the group stage.

Currently, Masood is leading the team in their two-match Test series against Bangladesh, where they trail 1-0 after losing the first Test by 10 wickets.

The second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh will begin on August 30 in Rawalpindi.
