Pakistan opening batsman Saim Ayub has vowed to continue maintaining an aggressive approach when batting.

Ayub has been subjected to immense criticism as of late since he has not been able to score runs consistently. However, much of the condemnation he has received can be attributed to his form in T20Is.

With Pakistan now preparing for a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, the 22-year-old has a chance to show that he belongs at the international level.

“Batting at [a] good strike-rate is the requirement of modern day cricket. We have seen other teams playing with an attacking approach. I would always try to play with [an] attacking mindset even if it was not my natural [game],” the Karachi native was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ayub recently featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he mustered 23 runs in two games at an average of 11.50 and a strike-rate of 79.31.

Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh will take place in Rawalpindi and Karachi from August 21 to September 3.
