Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah said he hasn’t been given a “workload plan” just yet, even though he has been sidelined with injuries in the past.
Naseem is a key member of the Pakistan team as he is one of the country’s go-to seamers in all three formats.
While he has increased his workload in the lead-up to the two-Test series against Bangladesh, the 21-year-old knows that bowling in training and practice matches is much different than an actual Test match.
“I have not been given a workload plan right now. However, as a professional, I know it is not easy to come back after a long time. There is a big difference in playing practice matches and Tests. The pressure and load on the body is different,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I will try to prepare myself before the series as you increase bowling gradually after injury. I have increased my load by bowling more in the last 2-3 weeks but the match load is different. Whatever plan I will be given, [I] will try to follow it and prepare my body.”
Naseem recently featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he took five wickets in three games at an average of 14.20 and an economy rate of 5.91.
Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh will be held in Rawalpindi and Karachi from August 21 to September 3.
