Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam said legendary South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers was the best batsman he has played with or against.
Azam said this while appearing on De Villiers’ YouTube channel.
The 29-year-old has played with and faced some of the best batsmen in history, including India’s Virat Kohli and England’s Joe Root, but he stuck by his decision to select De Villiers.
“You,” he said in the YouTube interview.
The Proteas icon laughed and replied: “It’s not allowed to be me.”
The Pakistan skipper then stated: “No, no, no, you always, always, always.”
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and was the team’s highest run-scorer with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green began their campaign with successive losses to the United States of America and India before fighting back to defeat Canada and Ireland.
However, those two wins went in vain as Pakistan were knocked out in the group stage of the tournament.
