Usman Khawaja, the Australia batsman, admitted that when Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam is batting, it feels as if India icon Virat Kohli is playing.
Khawaja noted that while Azam “doesn’t always bat the same” as Kohli, he has the same presence and dominance as the former India skipper.
Both players have repeatedly been compared to each other as they are their respective team’s frontline batsman.
“Doesn’t always bat the same as Virat, but for some reason he feels like Virat in a lot of senses just when you watch him play,” Khawaja said in a Fox Cricket YouTube video where the Australian team picked their current ODI World XI.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and finished with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to defeat Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two group stage games, Pakistan failed to advance to the Super Eights.
