Shaheen Shah Afridi: “I’m gradually learning the art of batting so that it helps Pakistan. I would like to win matches for Pakistan regardless of my batting position”

Shaheen Shah Afridi, the Pakistan pace spearhead, said he wants to master the art of being a match-winning bowler and batsman.
Afridi has showcased his improved batting skills while captaining the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Having also worked hard on his power-hitting, the 24-year-old aims to transform himself in a handy lower order batsman in international cricket as well.
“I had [an] interest in batting since [my] Under-19 days but never did that properly. However, that has changed recently. During my rehab, I did a lot of batting practice,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Afridi was recently in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup and took five wickets in four matches at an average of 21 and an economy rate of 6.56.
The men in green kicked off their campaign with back-to-back losses to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Despite winning those two games, they failed to progress to the Super Eights and were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
