Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has made it clear that there is no problem between himself and limited overs captain Babar Azam.
He noted that the two of them are not distant from each other and insisted that whenever they need to talk to each other, they do so.
Malik’s comments come at a time when Azam’s future as captain remains up in the air as Pakistan failed to impress in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where they were knocked out in the group stage.
“It’s not that he is far from me; that’s definitely not the case. Whenever he needs to talk or I need to talk, we do,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Azam was Pakistan’s top run-scorer in the T20 World Cup with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
After losing their first two games against the United States of America and India, the men in green fought back to defeat Canada and Ireland.
However, those two victories were not enough to earn them a spot in the Super Eights.
