Why were they left out, Rashid Latif felt two strong performers deserved to be in the Pakistan team

Rashid Latif questioned why Usama Mir and Mohammad Ali were left out of Pakistan's team for the 2024 T20 World Cup

Rashid Latif: “Team selection shouldn’t be done the way we’re doing it. You knew you had to play 5 day games in the USA. What was the point of having five pacers in the squad? You left out Usama Mir and Mohammad Ali, who were strong performers”

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has questioned why the selectors didn’t include spinner Usama Mir and fast bowler Mohammad Ali in the national team for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

He noted that both players “were strong performers” in domestic cricket and thus deserved to be part of the squad.

The men in green were eliminated in the group stage of the T20 World Cup, which led to Latif questioning why there were five seamers in the side.

“Team selection shouldn’t be done the way we’re doing it. You knew you had to play 5 day games in the USA. What was the point of having five pacers in the squad? You left out Usama Mir and Mohammad Ali, who were strong performers,” he told PakPassion.

In the T20 World Cup, the men in green lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.

Despite triumphing in those two games, they were unable to make it through to the Super Eights.
