Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie confirmed that he has already spoken with Test captain Shan Masood and discussed plans about the type of cricket the team should play going forward.

Gillespie didn’t divulge too much information, but declared that the men in green “will play positive cricket”, potentially hinting at a more aggressive approach.

His comments come ahead of Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, which will be played from August 21 to September 3 in Rawalpindi and Karachi.

“I have talked to Shan Masood one or two times, I’m hoping we will play positive cricket. I will [also] discuss with the players about what brand of cricket they want to play, the team will be selected while taking the opposition and conditions in mind,” Gillespie was quoted as saying by Cricwick.

The Pakistan team recently featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to defeat Canada and Ireland.

However, those wins went in vain as the men in green were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
