Legendary Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has made it clear that there should be no room in the T20I team for batsmen who score 40 runs off 40 balls.
While Afridi didn’t name any players in particular, many people will be able to work out who his comments were aimed at.
The men in green have been consistently criticised for posting uncompetitive totals in T20Is, which is one of the key reasons why they haven’t done well as of late.
“There’s no room for players who score 40 off 40 balls in T20 cricket anymore,” Afridi was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan recently played in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to take down Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two group stage games, the men in green were unable to make it through to the Super Eights.
