Geoff Lawson: “Babar is one of the best players in the world”

Former Australia pace bowler Geoff Lawson believes Pakistan captain Babar Azam is one of the best players in the world right now.
Azam’s form has come under scrutiny as of late as he hasn’t been making big scores consistently, which is expected of him as Pakistan’s frontline batsman.
Despite this, the 29-year-old has been leading the way for the men in green when it comes to scoring runs over the past few years.
“Babar is one of the best players in the world,” Lawson told Geo News.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and amassed 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to take down Canada and Ireland.
Despite winning their last two group stage games, Pakistan failed to progress to the Super Eights.
