Former India left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan said “Pakistan need to have a vision for the next three years” that includes picking a captain and continuing to back him.
The captaincy debate has picked up once again after incumbent leader Babar Azam and the rest of the Pakistan team failed to impress in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to defeat Canada and Ireland.
Despite this, they ended up being eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
With plenty of questions that need to be answered, Zaheer noted Pakistan must come up with a plan for the future and stick with it. If they don’t, they “will continue to stay backwards”.
“Pakistan need to have a vision for the next three years. First, they need to pick who will captain and if they don’t back him, Pakistan will continue to stay backwards,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
