Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has taken a shot at Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir, saying he “is not what he was”.
Amir reversed his decision to retire from international cricket after the 2024 Pakistan Super League (PSL) and subsequently represented the men in green in T20I series against New Zealand, Ireland and England.
Most recently, the 32-year-old featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup and took seven wickets in four games at an average of 10.28 and an economy rate of 4.50.
Despite bowling well in the tournament, Manjrekar feels Amir wasn’t as good as when he first burst onto the international scene.
“Mohammad Amir is not what he was,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India in the T20 World Cup before bouncing back to defeat Canada and Ireland.
However, those two victories went in vain as Pakistan were eliminated in the group stage of the competition.
