Andy Flower: “I don’t think they will go back to Shaheen which leaves Babar and Rizwan as the option. Rizwan I think, is an excellent leader of men. He has got a big heart and he has got ample integrity and people follow him. I think he is an option for them”

Former Multan Sultans head coach Andy Flower believes wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan could replace Babar Azam as Pakistan’s T20I captain.
Azam was put in charge of the limited overs teams in March 2024, but his leadership skills have come under increasing scrutiny following the men in green’s dismal showing in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before fighting back to beat Canada and Ireland.
Flower thinks that Shaheen Shah Afridi, who briefly served as T20I skipper, won’t be considered again, which only leaves Rizwan as a legitimate option.
“I don’t think they will go back to Shaheen which leaves Babar and Rizwan as the option. Rizwan I think, is an excellent leader of men. He has got a big heart and he has got ample integrity and people follow him. I think he is an option for them,” he told ESPNcricinfo as quoted by Geo Super.
In the T20 World Cup, Rizwan was Pakistan’s second-highest run-scorer with 110 runs in four matches, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 36.66 and a strike-rate of 90.90.
