Azhar Ali: “Pakistan hasn’t produced a batsman like him”

Former captain Azhar Ali believes Pakistan hasn’t ever produced a batsman quite like Babar Azam.
The 29-year-old, who is the country’s limited overs captain, is one of the best cricketers in the world today and has been the men in green’s frontline batsman for the past few years since he consistently scores runs in all three formats.
Over the decades, Pakistan has had exceptional batsmen who have had an incredible impact on the game. However, Azhar truly feels that Azam is uniquely special.
“Pakistan hasn’t produced a batsman like him,” he was quoted as saying by Cricwick.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and was the team’s highest run-scorer with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green kicked off their campaign with successive losses to the United States of America and India before rebounding to take down Canada and Ireland.
Even though they ended the group stage on a high, they failed to advance to the Super Eights.
