Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez revealed that when the new management of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took over, they “just wanted to sack me”.
He pointed out it is “very unfortunate” that the PCB gets a new chairman and officials when the government in the country changes.
Hafeez noted he was appointed as Pakistan’s team director on a four-year deal, but served just two months before leaving.
During his tenure, the men in green lost 3-0 to Australia in a Test series and 4-1 to New Zealand in a T20I series.

No one saw how good the team was in Australia, they just wanted to sack me,” he said on the Club Prairie Fire podcast as quoted by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team was recently in action in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to beat Canada and Ireland.
Despite winning those two games, the men in green failed to advance to the Super Eights.
