Legendary India opener Virender Sehwag said Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir “used to criticise” the Pakistan team back in the day.

However, he pointed out that Wahab is now a selector, while Amir came out of retirement and became a key member of the pace attack.

Following a disappointing showing in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Sehwag conceded that Pakistan need to make some tough decisions while keeping an eye on the future.

“Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir used to criticise, but now one is a selector, and Amir came in playing XI. You need to view the future and do justice to the job,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

In the T20 World Cup, Amir took seven wickets in four matches at an average of 10.28 and an economy rate of 4.50.

Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.

Even though they ended the group stage on a high, the men in green were unable to book their spot in the Super Eights.
