Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes Pakistan limited overs skipper Babar Azam wouldn’t get into India, Australia, England and the West Indies’ T20I teams.

He admitted that the 29-year-old is an “exceptional” player, but doesn’t think he would make the cut when it came to selection in those respective countries.

Azam is the second-highest run-scorer in T20I history with 4,145 runs in 123 matches, which includes three centuries and 36 fifties, at an average of 41.03 and a strike-rate of 129.08.

“Honestly don’t think they (Pakistan) have got many great T20 players. Babar Azam is exceptional, but would he make England’s, Australia’s, India’s, or the West Indies’ T20 teams? Probably not,” Vaughan was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Azam recently captained Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and scored 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.

The men in green started off with consecutive losses to the United States of America and India before rebounding to defeat Canada and Ireland.

Even though they won their last two group stage matches, Pakistan failed to advance to the Super Eights.
