Former India wicketkeeper-batsman Nayan Mongia said Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam “is not even close to Virat Kohli”.
Azam and Kohli have constantly been compared to each other as they are considered to be the best batsmen for Pakistan and India respectively.
However, Mongia feels there is a big gap between the duo, with India superstar Kohli being on a whole different level.
“You compare him with Virat Kohli and he is not even close to Virat Kohli. So, the pressure is on Babar Azam and the Pakistan team that till he fires, everything is fine, but if he gets out, Pakistan’s batting collapses,” he told Star Sports as quoted by Geo Super.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and amassed 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green began with back-to-back losses to the United States of America and India before fighting back to claim wins over Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two group stage games, Pakistan failed to advance to the Super Eights.
