Mohammad Hafeez: “Now that there is no league in the June window, the two players are participating in the T20 World Cup and treating it as just another league”

Former Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez has accused left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir and spinner Imad Wasim of treating the 2024 T20 World Cup like a domestic T20 league.
He noted that both players refused to play for Pakistan when approached by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) six months ago as they “wanted to participate in T20 leagues”.
However, since “there is no league in the June window”, Hafeez said the duo did a U-turn and decided to represent their country once again.
“Six months ago, when these two cricketers were asked by the PCB if they would play for Pakistan, they refused because they wanted to participate in T20 leagues. Now that there is no league in the June window, the two players are participating in the T20 World Cup and treating it as just another league,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Amir took seven wickets in four matches in the T20 World Cup at an average of 10.28 and an economy rate of 4.50.
As for Imad, he finished with three wickets in three games at an average of 14.66 and an economy rate of four.
Pakistan began with consecutive losses to the United States of America and India before triumphing over Canada and Ireland.
Even though they ended the group stage on a high, they failed to progress to the Super Eights.
