Fiery Pakistan fast bowler Aamer Jamal has made it clear that he wasn’t upset after being overlooked for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Jamal burst onto the international scene with a stellar performance in Pakistan’s three-match Test series against Australia from December 2023 to January 2024.

The 27-year-old from Mianwali took 18 wickets at an average of 20.44.

He also scored 143 runs, which included a career-best knock of 82, at an average of 28.60.

Jamal subsequently proceeded to play in Pakistan’s T20I series against New Zealand in January, but hasn’t been picked since then.

Even though he has shown plenty of potential and is considered to be a promising all-rounder, Jamal reiterated that he is fully focused on “playing good cricket” and will leave selection matters in the hands of the selectors.

“No, I’m not disappointed that I’m not in the team. Selection is not in my hands, if it is written for me I will get it no matter what stage it is. So I always believe in playing good cricket, perform well. Selection is up to the selectors,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before triumphing over Canada and Ireland.

Even though they ended the group stage with a 2-2 record, the men in green failed to make it through to the Super Eights.
