Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has admitted that he “must give credit” to left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir as he “bowled very well” during the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Amir only recently reversed his decision to retire from international cricket and subsequently represented the men in green in a few T20I series, including against New Zealand, Ireland and England.

In the T20 World Cup, the 32-year-old was Pakistan’s joint-highest wicket-taker with seven wickets in four games at an average of 10.28 and an economy rate of 4.50.

Malik conceded that Amir did extremely well with the ball and made his presence felt whenever he stepped out onto the field.

“I must give credit to Mohammad Amir – he bowled very well,” the 42-year-old was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Pakistan began their campaign with successive losses to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to defeat Canada and Ireland.

Despite winning their last two group stage matches, the men in green failed to make it through to the Super Eights.
