Legendary Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq believes mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed should replace Shadab Khan in the national team.
Inzamam noted that Shadab has not been able to take wickets, which has really hurt the men in green over the past few months.
The 25-year-old last took a wicket during Pakistan’s five-match T20I series against New Zealand in April 2024.
Most recently, he played in the 2024 T20 World Cup and failed to dismiss any batsmen in four games. In fact, Shadab didn’t even bowl in Pakistan’s clashes against India and Canada.
Since the Mianwali native is not fulfilling the duties that come with being Pakistan’s first-choice spinner, Inzamam thinks it is time for change and wants 25-year-old Abrar to get a proper chance to prove himself.
“My advice to the Pakistan team would be to replace Shadab Khan with Abrar Ahmed. Shadab is a good cricketer but his main role is to take wickets but he isn’t able to do that at the moment,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Geo Super.
Pakistan lost their first two T20 World Cup matches against the United States of America and India before rebounding to take down Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won those two games, it wasn’t enough to get them through to the Super Eights.
