Salman Butt: “The Pakistan team always finds a way to lose the match. Rizwan had one job, and that was to bat till the end”

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has vented his frustration at wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, saying he failed to do the one job he had in the 2024 T20 World Cup match against India.
Chasing 120 runs to win, the men in green seemed to be on track to win the match before crumbling under the pressure and ultimately losing by six runs.
Rizwan was Pakistan’s top scorer with 31 runs and Salman noted that he should have batted till the end. However, the 32-year-old from Peshawar was clean bowled by India pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the 15th over.
“The Pakistan team always finds a way to lose the match. Rizwan had one job, and that was to bat till the end,” Salman was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Rizwan accumulated 110 runs in four T20 World Cup matches, which included a top score of 53 not out, at an average of 36.66 and a strike-rate of 90.90.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before fighting back to beat Canada and Ireland.
Even though they ended the group stage with two wins and two losses, it was not enough to earn them a spot in the Super Eights.
