Pakistan limited overs captain Babar Azam said his strike-rate can’t be the same as top order batsman Fakhar Zaman or former West Indies all-rounder Daren Sammy’s.
Azam noted that he cannot hit sixes from ball one as his “batting style is more dependent on building partnerships”.
“My strike-rate cannot be like Fakhar or Sammy. I don’t start hitting sixes from ball one. My batting style is more dependent on building partnerships,” the 29-year-old was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and scored 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to defeat Canada and Ireland.
Despite ending the group stage with a 2-2 record, Pakistan failed to progress to the Super Eights.
