Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram has expressed his disappointment towards wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan, saying his poor performances are “not helping his cause”.
Azam has represented Pakistan in 14 T20Is and mustered 88 runs at an average of 8.80 and a strike-rate of 133.33.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, the 25-year-old was dismissed for a golden duck against the United States of America, which was the only game he played.
“Azam… he’s my friend’s (Moin Khan) son. He grew up in front of me, but he’s not helping his cause,” Wasim told ABP News as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India in the T20 World Cup before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.
Even though they won their last two games, the men in green were eliminated in the group stage of the competition.
