Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria doesn’t think limited overs captain Babar Azam is “even equal to Virat Kohli’s shoe”.
Azam and Kohli, who represents India, have constantly been compared to each other as they are the backbone of the batting line-up for their respective countries.
However, Kaneria sees a clear divide between them, with Kohli being miles ahead of Azam.
“As soon as Babar Azam scores a hundred, the next day you’ll see comparisons with Virat Kohli. Babar Azam isn’t even equal to Virat Kohli’s shoe. Babar Azam stands nowhere near Virat Kohli,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Azam recently captained Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup and finished with 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green started off with successive losses to the United States of America and India before claiming wins over Canada and Ireland.
Despite this, Pakistan ended up being eliminated in the group stage of the tournament.
