Former Pakistan team director and interim head coach Mohammad Hafeez has advised batting powerhouse Saim Ayub to “pay attention to his range of shots.”
Hafeez noted that Ayub cannot continuously rely on one shot to keep scoring runs and needs to utilise other strokes as well if he wants to progress as a batsman.
The 22-year-old is among the top big-hitters in the country and is expected to keep being picked by the men in green.
In order to live up to expectations, Hafeez hopes the talented youngster starts broadening his arsenal of scoring shots.
“I think Saim needs to see that focusing only on one shot isn’t allowing him to play other good options well. He needs to pay attention to his range of shots,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Ayub recently featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, but was restricted to 23 runs in two games at an average of 11.50 and a strike-rate of 79.31.
Pakistan lost to the United States of America and India before bouncing back to take down Canada and Ireland.
Despite winning their last two group stage games, the men in green failed to qualify for the Super Eights.
