Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad believes Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir will all be blamed for the team’s poor results as of late.
Shehzad hinted that white-ball captain Babar Azam included them in the team in order to take some of the heat off himself.
The men in green had a disastrous campaign in the 2024 T20 World Cup as they started with back-to-back losses to the United States of America and India.
Despite bouncing back to beat Canada and Ireland, Pakistan were unable to book their spot in the Super Eights.
With the team having severely underperformed in the T20 World Cup, Shehzad expects the losses to be placed squarely on the shoulders of Azam, Iftikhar, Ayub, Naseem, Imad and Amir.
“You have put Azam Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah, Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir in the team so that all the blame for the losses can be placed on them,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
