Misbah-ul-Haq believes Pakistan captain Babar Azam can do “what Virat Kohli has done for India” if he keeps playing at a high level for the next eight to 10 years.
Azam has already become Pakistan’s most consistent run-scorer in all three formats, which has led many former and current cricketers to rate him as one of the best in the world.
Misbah, however, pointed out that the 29-year-old has to keep on performing and leading the men in green to victories in order to be in the same league as Kohli.
“If he [plays] for the next eight to 10 years he can do what Virat Kohli has done for India,” he told The National.
Azam recently led Pakistan in the 2024 T20 World Cup, where he scored 122 runs in four matches at an average of 40.66 and a strike-rate of 101.66.
The men in green lost to the United States of America and India before rebounding to defeat Canada and Ireland.
Despite those two wins, Pakistan failed to make it out of the group stage.
